Neurophysiology Development Scholarship Application

ADInstruments is pleased to announce the Neurophysiology Educator Development Scholarship Program. This scholarship is for present and future educators who want to learn how to implement exercises using invertebrates in neuroscience teaching laboratories. The objectives of this scholarship are to:

▪ Increase the number and diversity of currently active and future educators who have access to state-­‐of-­‐the-­‐art neuroscience teaching laboratory techniques.
▪ Provide support for pre-­‐tenure neuroscientists to gain expertise teaching undergraduate neuroscience. The scholarship will provide a travel stipend and complimentary registration at any ADInstruments sponsored neuroscience educator workshop (Jointly hosted by ADInstruments and the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior, Cornell University).

Scholarship Award Details

Who is Eligible to Apply?
All faculty members, course instructors, postdocs and graduate students interested in learning new techniques for teaching neuroscience are welcome to apply. We especially encourage women, underrepresented minorities, those teaching at institutions with primarily minority students, young faculty members (pretenure), postdocs and graduates students to apply.

Number and Value of Awards
ADInstruments will award multiple scholarships throughout the year in timing with our neurophysiology course offerings. The successful recipients will receive a $US500 travel stipend and a complimentary registration to one of the courses.

Application Requirements:

1) Current C.V. with 3 references including contact information.
2) A short essay that highlights previous teaching experience and explains why attending a neurophysiology course would be beneficial and reason for support.

Scholarship Application Deadlines

All application materials must be submitted no later than 12:00 AM (EST) March 7, 2014. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered. Awards will be announced no later than April 30, 2014.

Application Review Process
Completed applications will be reviewed by an independent panel of neuroscientists including course instructors and alumni. The selection of successful applicants will be administered by the Education Committee of the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience.
